The Chico Camp
June 19–21, 2026
The Chico Camp is run by the BRONC Officials’ Group in Northern California and will be held June 19–21, 2026, at California State University, Chico. This camp has been operating for over 20 years and has been attended by officials who have gone on to work at the Division I, Division II, NAIA, and Junior College levels.
The Chico Camp is open to officials of all experience levels.
Camp Purpose and Goals
The primary goal of the Chico Camp is to help participants become better, more knowledgeable officials both on and off the court. The camp is designed to assist officials in progressing their careers through required camps or certified instruction, as required by their respective high school or officiating organizations. . Officials will gain valuable insight into the professional dispositions expected at higher levels of competition, including professional appearance and attire.
The main purpose of the Chico Camp is to provide a positive and productive camp experience, allow participants to build professional networks with peers and staff, and improve officiating skills.
Instruction and Advancement Opportunities
Instruction is based on men’s college officiating mechanics; however, attendees do not need to be collegiate officials, nor do they need to work exclusively men’s basketball.
Our goal is to identify officials who may be ready to advance to the next level, whether that be Junior College, NAIA, or Division II men’s or women’s consortiums. Multiple collegiate assignors regularly attend the camp to scout potential prospects.
Clinician Staff
Our staff of clinicians brings extensive camp experience, either as former campers themselves or as long-time clinicians. Their insight is valuable and designed to help participants gain a deeper understanding of what is expected when “trusting the system” of basketball officiating.
